What equipment is neccesary for this service?
We supply all the equipment needed, at no cost to you. There is nothing to purchase. We install a satellite dish at your location. We also provide and install the broadband Linkstar router.

How many concurrent computers can I connect to this system?
This depends on the package you purchase. The service level selected and the number of users concurrently downloading will determine the speed each user acheives. The router provides an ethernet connection. You can connect this directly to your computer, or you can connect a multiple-port router to provide internet access to more devices simultaneously.

How fast is it?
FAST— much faster than your dial-up connection! The Business Internet plan provides up to 4 Mbps download speed. You’ll download files in seconds, access email instantly, and share information easier and faster with customers, partners and suppliers.

What is included in the installation?
The installer will put in place the outdoor equipment, run the cable and connect the satellite router, and test the system for Internet access.

How often can I use my internet services?
Always. If you computer is turned on, you are online and you have internet access. There are no "per-minute" fees, no dialing up, and no "idle disconnects".

Is a telephone connection connection required?
No. There is no phone line or dial-up data modem required to use your Mobile Universe satellite service.

What effect does weather have on the service?
It takes a pretty heavy storm to interfere with or block transmissions. User studies suggest 8-12 outages per year with a four- to five-minute duration per outage. This is not satellite TV. Satellite TV systems use much smaller dishes and therefore suffer more weather-related outages. The technical term for this is "rain fade."

Can a subscriber use any email program (Outlook, Eudora, etc.)?
Yes. All major email programs work with our satellite internet services.

How long does it take to install the service?
The actual installation typically takes 3-6 hours. Service is subject to equipment availability and unexpected shipping delays.

Does the system support voice telephone service (VoIP)?
Yes, the system supports VoIP (voice Over Internet Protocol) in the same manner as it supports other Internet applications. Since the satellite signal needs to travel to the satellite and back to earth, there is a slight delay in the signal. This is called latency, and there will be a slight delay (like you see in CNN satellite interviews).

What is the difference between business service plans and the consumer service plans?
SPEED! The Small Office and Business Internet service plans provide faster speeds than the Residential plan, and the business plans come with a larger dish. As such, they provide a higher level of overall performance for a multi-user, small business environment.

Can anyone physically install the dish?
No. The dish is fairly complicated and cannot be installed by the consumer. Our professional Installers make your installation come off without a hitch.

Why does my system need to be professionally installed?
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requires that trained professionals install any two-way satellite system.

Is there a Service Level Agreement (SLA)?
The Internet via satellite service is provided on a best-effort basis. Uptime is above 99.5% but can be affected by weather and other factors.

Are there cancellation fees?
A minimum service agreement term is required. Customers not completing their contract's minimum term commitment will be charged for the remaining time left in the contract term.
